Garment Commissioned - An historically accurate, high quality and authentic looking Admiral Nelson uniform.
Requirement -The client (a Norfolk based artist and craftsman) required a tailored costume to wear to add extra visual impact when giving his talks on Admiral Nelson and HMS Victory.
Solution - Researched, sourced materials and designed both patterns based on images available on the internet and from the National Maritime Museum.
The toile was created from the customer's own measurements. The coat was made from 100% wool barathea and lined with glazed cotton. The gold detailing is handmade bias binding, created from metallic gold silk dupion. The epaulettes were made from gold upholstery type tassels. Due to the distance the entire process was carried out remotely with the toile and final garments being exchanged to and fro by recorded delivery.
Result - The bespoke costume was made within 6 weeks and is worn regularly by my client when he is speaking at various functions.
