Garment Commissioned - Two piece ball gown restyled from a 1950's style prom dress.
Requirement - Re-fashion a new outfit from a prom dress I had made 2 years earlier for my client, incorporating the surplus fabric (silk dupion & silk habotai lining) leftover from the original prom dress project.
The client is over 6' tall in heels and was unable to find an "off-the-peg" full length gown to fit.
Solution - I removed the bodice entirely and recycled it with additional spare fabric to add a waistband and a fabric covered button to the full circle skirt. With the remaining fabric there was just enough to create a simple laced up corset with rouleaux loops, which was boned and interlined with coutil and organza for strength.
Result - A glamorous and timeless classic two piece ball gown, made to measure (again) utilising a much loved dress which no longer fitted.
Testimonial – "Thank you so much for EVERYTHING.. I have never received SO many compliments on a dress. Everyone just loved it.. And I do toooo! Dream dress! Thank you a million times over!!!! ..." (GB June 2010)
